About Me - Occupational Therapy Consulting

Smiling woman with glasses and long blonde hair.

Meet Our Founder

Crystal White is an occupational therapist, consultant, and founder of Kindling, where she supports community capacity building for families, schools, organizations, and communities to meet the demands of modern life.

Throughout her career, Crystal has worked across healthcare, education, research, and consulting. In every setting, she recognized a common theme: people don’t struggle due to a lack of capability but rather when life’s demands exceed their capacity. Many challenges we face are not flaws to be fixed but adaptive responses shaped by our experiences, environments, and nervous systems. This understanding laid the groundwork for her work at Kindling.

Grounded in occupational therapy and informed by evidence-based practice, Polyvagal Theory, attachment theory, sensory processing, trauma-informed practice, and nervous system regulation, Crystal aids individuals in comprehending why disconnection occurs under pressure and how to foster environments where individuals, teams, and communities can reconnect, adapt, and participate meaningfully in everyday life.

Her work emphasizes the relationship between people, their environments, and the occupations that fill their days. Instead of urging individuals to merely perform better, Crystal collaborates with the systems surrounding daily life to enhance regulation, boost psychological safety, and build the capacity to navigate complexity without losing connection to what truly matters.

Crystal holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Kansas. She is an NBCOT-certified occupational therapist, a certified Montessori educator, and continues advanced training in nervous system regulation and relational healing. Dedicated to bridging research and practice, Crystal is a published co-author in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, where she contributes to research on evidence-based, nature-based interventions that support the well-being of healthcare professionals.

Through Kindling, Crystal empowers individuals and their surrounding systems to create environments where resilience flourishes, relationships deepen, and people can truly thrive.
